On June 18, a Hollywood star came to Fostoria to do lunch! It all began last September during the Fostoria Red Cross TV Auction, when one of the items up for bid was lunch with Robert Knepper, star of the FOX hit TV series 'Prison Break'.  Pam Kelbley and her daughter Melissa, who is a big fan of the show, heard about the Auction and stayed by the stage all night to make sure they placed the winning bid.  Last month, Mr. Knepper returned to the area for a family visit and have lunch with the Kelbley's at the Fostoria Country Club.  Pam and her daughters had a great time and said Mr. Knepper was a perfect gentleman and nothing like his 'Prison Break' character, "T-Bag".

On Thursday, June 26, the Fostoria Chapter held its Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition Dinner in the parish hall at St. Wendelin Church.  Red Cross volunteers enjoyed a great dinner, prepared by the crew that runs the canteen at our community blood drives, heard a report on Chapter activities and elected new Board members and officers.  Special guests at the dinner included State Representative Cliff Hite, who presented a proclamation from the Ohio House of Representatives honoring the Chapter for our 80th Anniversary and Don Baker, CEO of the American Red Cross Western Lake Erie Blood Services Region, who commended the Chapter for exceeding our goal in blood collections.  Here's a few pictures from the event.

Fostoria Red Cross - Answering The Call

In the early morning hours of May 31, a category F2 tornado struck Fostoria.  The Fostoria Red Cross Disaster Action Team was mobilized within an hour of the event and was on the scene providing food, shelter and other immediate needs to those affected by the storm.  The Team also served over 600 meals to local first responders, work crews and the many families, friends and neighbors cleaning up after the storm.
